Revitalization Of Sustainable Procurement For Rural Development In The Midlands Region, Zimbabwe

The main goal of the study was to evaluate the revitalisation of sustainable procurement in the selected rural areas in the Midlands region in Zimbabwe.The guiding objectives were ; to identify the significance of sustainable procurement to rural developmentas well as to recommend strategies that will improve the rural areas through the implementation of sustainable procurement. A population of two hundred (200) from the diffrent rural areas selected with a sample size of forty (40) were picked. Data was collected through interveiw guides and interveiws. Data from questionnaires was analysed using SPSS and data from interveiws was analysed using Nvivo. Findings were that the understanding of sustainable procurement was not yet in place and understanding of its importance was lacking, there is real need to educate the population of the benefits of its implementation for rural development. The researcher recommends the use of sustainable procurement at each stage of the supply chain for the improvement of the rural areas in the Midlands region in Zimbabwe in line with sustainable development goals; 1,2,3,11 and 12.Downloads
